FRI-01 Magic Booster Draft (Coldsnap) [FULL]

Post by mcdaldno » May 21st, 2011, 8:59 am

So, [NOW FULL]

This is a "booster draft" tournament for Magic: the Gathering. We open sealed booster packs of cards, build decks from what we find, and then play against one another. The spirit will be friendly, though it will be a round-robin tournament.

At the start of the block, I'm going to give a 15-minute briefing on the set mechanics for Coldsnap (the set we're going to draft from), to make sure everyone is on the same page. It's fine if you haven't played for years, but previous Magic experience is essential.

As the cards cost money (around $100 for the box), I'm asking that anyone who plays consider kicking in $5-15 to cover the cost of the cards. Don't let this be a barrier to you, though. The most important thing is that people play and have fun.

This is scheduled for right after dinner on Friday night.

It will be awesome.

I'm in! Which is good because I have the actual cards.

I've been thinking about MtG recently and now I see this. I'm totally in! I can help cover the costs as well.

Thanks, Ross.

I'm going to run a primer, right before the draft, to help prepare folks for the Coldsnap drafting environment.

I'm likely in, as is my brother, and I'll cover whatever costs.

Also speaking of Magic, according to the Seattle Center website, Saturday of GPNW there will be an all-day Magic 12 set pre-release event just a few doors down from GPNW.

Re: FRI-01 Magic Booster Draft (7/12 seats)

Currently registered for the draft:

Joe Mcdaldno
Brendan Adkins
Ross Cowman
Kristian
Sage LaTorra
Dude LaTorra
Rafial

That's 7 seats filled. A traditional draft has 8 people. I'm happy to split into two pods though, and so we can take up to 12 total (as that's how many cards we have).
